The Warwickshire County Cricket authorities oppose the proposal to widen the wickets, but suegest the height be increased "by two'inches. SCARLATINA SERUM. BERLIN, Thursday. Dr. Aronson, of Berlin, has discovered a serum for protection against scarlatina. SHEIK YUSAF ARRESTED. LONDON, Thursday. The news has been received that the Italian authorities have arrested Sheik Yusaf at Obbia. In conveying him to Aden great difficulties of transport from Obbia were experienced . BOERS AT WAR. The Somaliland expedition is now equipped. The Boer contingent is proving a useful help. THE HEAT WAVE. SYDNEY, Last night. The heat wave culminated in steady rain in the City to-night. THE INVERLOCHY. MELBOURNE, Last night. A gale is raging along the coast, and high seas are last breaking up the Inverlochy wreck. RELIEF FUND. The drought relief fund amounts to seventeen thousand pounds. N. Z. STRAW DAMAGED. Received To-day at 10.40 a.m. SYDNEY, This Day. Through a fire at the Union Co.'s Wharf, a stack containing five or six hundred bales of straw was severely damaged by fire and water. ADMIRALTY ERROR. ADELAIDE, This Day. At a meeting of the/ Marine Board, the Harbourmaster reported that the lighthouse at Wonga Shoal, near the entrance to the Port river, was 365 feet from the position marked on the Admiralty charts. The Admiralty's attention is to be called to the error.
