Ministers state tint the date of the general election has not yet been definitely fixed, although it is probable it will be held on November 28th.
[Per Press Association] New Plymouth, October 19. Mr McCardle, who hf»s been hero iv connection with the contest for tho Eg mont soot, has now withdrawn in favour of the Hon. W. Jennings, who had a successful moetiog of his supporters at Inglowood yesterday. Mastebio.v, Monday. Mr W. C. Buchanan, who is contesting the Wairarapa seat, addressed a large, audience at Tau"ru on Saturday nicht. Mr Buchanan dealt with tho prominent political question, t onchantly criticising the financial policy of the Government. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to Mr Buchanan.
