At the annual meeting of the Acclimatisation Society it was resolved to ask Government to remove the protection from stoats and weasels, and other so. oieties be requested to eo-operato in paying a reward for the destruction o£ the animals. Resolntions to appoint rangers for the nhols colony by contributions from the Association and GoTernmont were rejected, tho contention being that honor, ary rangers, plodged to watch the in. torest3 of sport, were alone effective The fishing season was fixed as usual, except with regard to the Maihai, which is limited to four months. It was resolved to release eighty thousand trout fry in the rivers and endeavour to rear twenty thousand locally, thus resuming fish culture.
