WOOL SALES.
(Per Press Association.)
LwercargiliL, January 0. At the first wool sale of tho season today 3077 bales were offered, being about one-third of the usual offerings at this sale. For fine lustrous crossbred there was keen competition, and prices were above present London quotations. Coarse crossbred met good enquiry at equivalent to London values, and the bulk was sold. Prices ranged — Half and fine crossbreds, 5Jd to GJd, good crossbrods 4d to sd, ordinary coarse do 3d to Id, bellies 2d to 2id; merinos brought up to 7d and, generally speaking, sellers got a little more than they anticipated.
