KILLS HIS MASTER.

GLASGOW TEAVELLEE'S CRIME ' AND SUICIDE.

A terrible double tragedy, in which a traveller shot his master with a revolyer and afterwards turned the weapon against himself with deadly effect, occurred in a Glasgow warehouse. About five o'clock Andrew Cruickshanks Mitchell went into tlieprivatc room of Mr iicuiry Eoss, head of the firm.of Henry Eoss and Co., Ingram-street, ostensibly to discuss business. Shortly afterwards the warehousemen heard sounds of a scuffle and the voice of their chief shouting for help. A man named Morrin immediately rushed to the door of the room, and finding his admission blocked, tried to force the lock. At last he burst the door open, and found that a lif e-and-death struggle was taking place. Mitchell was holding Mr Eoss by the throat, and Mr Eoss was gripping the other man's hand, in which was a revolver. Morrin1 closed with Mitchell, and after a desperate tussle secured the revolver, but not before the traveller had fired two shots at his master, neither of which apparently took effect.

Morrin then hurried aside in answer to the request of his employer to.get him some water, whereupon Mitchell whipped out a second revolver, shot Mr. Boss dead, turned the revolver upon himself, and blew his brains out. It appears that bad feeling had existed between' the two men for some time, and it is said that Mitchell was recently withdrawn from his travelling circuit. Mr Eoss was a thin, spare man of fifty-six years, and resided at 8, Parkquadrant. He leaves no'family: His murderer was a big, stout man, twenty years his junior, and leaves a large family.
