Caetlsrton, October 30. There is beautiful weather—lioht wind and a warm sun—for the-People's Day, and tho public started to ;isseu)bla ironi an early hour.

A dairy competition open to the milk suppliers of any co-operative factory' in the Wairarapa is the first of its kind held m the colony. The yields of milk from Ike competitors' herds were taken for the week prior to the holding of the show from the factory rolnrusv e.ich day s weight of each cow's milk being noted. Ihe awards were made upon the lushest average yield of milk per cow, and the highest average tost. Fourteen dairymen entered from the Carterton district and one from Featlierston. M.uc.l interest was evinced in the competition, wkicli resulted as follows •.—H •Neilsen, 1; J. C. Wilde, 2; E. Ea^le 3; X Neilsen, 4; W. C. Ordish, 5,- All the prize-winners bat Mr Eagle (who comes from Belvedere) belong to Dalefield.

There is a very interesting display of farm and dairy produce, whirli the judge, (iVIr J. T. Ling) says is of good all round quality. . .."■..

Mr L. £L 'Raynor, of Tarafcahr, and Mr T. M. Drummond, of Grey town, are th<)_ principal prize takors in poultry, of which the number of entries (166) is the same as at the last show.

The honours in pigs aro divided by Messrs E. H.: F.iir and S. Usshot, both of Cartenon; aid Mes3rs John Jarvis aid Sla k Ero3., bolh of Palmerston North.

The party which came from Wellington by this morning's train included the Minister of. Lands, Mr M'-N.ib, M.H.E;, Mr Dilnot Sladden, and Dr Newmau.

Among the prize-tnicovs in cocker spaniels is Mr George Gaudin, of Wellington.

A very good class of thoroughbred horses is shown, Mr Kuowles's Bonnie Scotland was first of the stallions.

Mr G. N. Yates's.The Cbilde took the fir ;t prize for trotting stallions. There was a big attendance and very bright weather at 1 o'clock. '
