rr, V-, *-,-, , Los don, July IS. Ihe trial of Earl Russell, which was a great function, was held in the Koval Gallery at Westminster. The Lords appeared in their robes with eleven judges. The absentees including the foremost members of the Government and Opposition Bishops. Earl Russell pleaded guilty. He stated'ho had consulted the best lawyers in America in regard to the validi'y of his action. " He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment and to be treated as a firstclass misdemeanant. "
