ROAD BOARD.
The following is a continuation of the business transacted at the meeting of the Fitzherbert Boad Board yesterday :— After discussion, Captain Hewitt consented to reduce his claim of £3 for steer killed to £1 10s, and to permit that amount to be included in moneys required for repairing Hewitt's road.
It was decided to allow Mr Aldrich to take nece-sary metal from Dick's pit. The secretary was instructed to write to certain settlers and ask them to discontinue carting heavy loads on the main road during the winter months, otherwise legal proceedings would be taken.
The secretary wa3 also instructed to write by registered post >o certain settlers requiring them to clear out watercourses running through their properties. In view of the state of the Board's finances, it was decided not to undertake any new work at present, the present roadmen to be simply kept going on necessary work in the district.
The meeting adjourned after the usual accounts had been passed for payment,
