THE STOCK MARKET.
Messrs Freeman E.Jackson and Co., in conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams, report as to their Johnson ville sale as follows:—There being no sale next week in consequence of holidays, there was a heavy entry of bpth cattle and sheep. The bullocks comprised a line of prime heavy-weight cattle, the balance being lighter weight, but of nice quality. Bidding was spirited, and prices were well maintained throughout. The few cows entered sold well. Ox beef brought from 19s to 20s, a few pens making 21s per 1001b; cow beef 17s. For sheep there was a better demand, and prices improved on last week's quotations. A large entry of lambs, mainly of poor quality, were dull of sale. Pigs sold freely. Good, porkers brought from 3Jd to 4d per lb.1* Quotations :— : Heavy bullocks. £810? to £9 ss, medium do, £6 17s 6d to £7 10s; cows, £417s 6d to £5 ss; prime heavy owes 13s lid to 15s, good ewes 12s lOd to 13s Bd, medium do. 11s 6d to 12s 6d, fair lambs 10s to 10s- 2d, medium do. 8s Bd, stores 7s, porkers 16s to 235, good stores 11s.
