THE 17TH LANCERS' EMEUTE.

The insubordination in the 17th Lancers at Ballincolig was quelled by the arrest of the ringleader, a lance-oorporal, who will be tried by court-martial. Thirty of .the men have been transferred to Cork, where another detachment of the regiment is stationed. A 9 stated the other day the troopers were about to leave for South Africa, and. unable to secure the freedom for leave-takings, they went, without permission, drinking in the village. On their return to barracks they sang " Death or Glory Boys," and disolderly scenes followed. A squadron of the 12th Lancers^was called in to stop the disorder, but the 17th troopers drew their knives and foiled all attempts at arrest until the following morning, when the lance-corporal was made a prisoner.
