IMPERIAL TROOPS TO VISIT PALMERSTON.
It will be seen by the courteous telegram from the Acting-Premier, the Hon. J. G. Ward, that it is almost a cortainty that the Imperial troops will visit Palmerstou during their tour of the colony in about a fortnight's time. The Borough Council last night, with a promptitude which does "them credit, decided to contribute towards the expense of entertaining the distinguished visitors, and a meeting has been convened by the Mayor for the purpose of enlisting the assistance of the community generally. Of courso nothing definite can be arranged at present, but it will be necessary to make provision for the use of horses, refreshments, &c, so that no time can be lost in seeing that nothing will be wanting to render the visit a memorable one in the annals j of the district.
