The Main Trunk Line.
INDIGNATION IN THE NGIiTH.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, September 3,
Immediately after the Premier's state mont that the' North Island Trunk lino would be placed in exactly the same position as oilier railways, the Railway League here telegraphed tho Premier as follows: — "League extremely regrets that you emphatically declared you did not intend to givo the North Island Main Trunk Railway exceptional treatment, and that tho petition of over 30,000 people and the pressure of members would not weigh with you. The people of Auckland claim that railway connection between Wellington and Auckland, promised over twenty years ago, and for which money was borrowod, should receive first consideration at the hande of the Government and Parliament, and bo pushed on with the utmost despatch. The Premier sent no reply, hence the league to-night resolved to call an indignation meeting.
