(Per Press Association). Wellington, August 22. ! Barney Byan and Dayid A. Byrne were convicted of burglary at Umpreville and Dodds, where an attempt was made to blow up the safe. Mrs Byrne was acquitted. Sentence was deferred. September 93. lhe following sentences were passed : —Mullis Ashenden, embezzlement, six months; Edward Meyers, theft, nine months ; George Dent, forgery, mne months ; David Byrne, burglary, \#"> and a half years; Barney Byan, burglary, two years ; Harold Gan'dy, forgery, admitted to nine months' probation.
