Accidents and Fatalities.

AIASTauTON, June 24. This afternoon, while a lad named Church was playing with some blasting powder, it exploded, burning his face severely. The sufferer is progressing favourably.
Christchukch, June 24. J. Y. Daly, the victim ot the midnight quarrel on Wednesday, died at Hospital at 10 o'clock last night without having regained consciousness. The two accused, who had been liberated on bail whsn charged with assault, were re-arrested this morning on a charge of manslaughter. Henry Harris Divers, who is said to have struck the blsw which proved fatal, is an assistant steward on the Rotoinahana, the other accused, Thomas James Trounson, is a workiug jeweller in Christchurch. Both are quite young men.
The body of Mr T. W. Piekford, of Wanganui, was found on the beach near Kilbirnie yesterday, having evidently been washed up by the tide.
