BOER PEACE ENVOYS.
New York, May 16. An Irish-Dutch reception committee, composed o£ noisy nobodies, including Patrick Egan, welcomed the Boer peace envoys on their arrival here from Europe.
An Irish mayor presented the freedom of Hoboken to the visitors, and sixty mayors sent invitations asHng for a visit from the rnissioners.
Mr Fischer, the leader of the party, in replying, said he .hoped America would arbitrate with Great Britain. If he was unable to induce President Kruger to do what was desired he would appeal to the American people, who would compel them.
Mr Fischer added " Some of the foreign attaches at the front on learning the reasons of the war said ' Give us guns—we must fight with you.' "
Miss Gertrude Watt, of Napier, has donated £100 to the fund for the assistance of the families of New Zealandera killed or injured in the South African war. ;
