Patriotic Sports.
A meeting of the Patriotic Sports Committee was held on Saturday night to consider the advisability of postponing the date of the sports until Easter Monday. Present—Messrs Eutherfurd, (in the chair), Jack, Goodger, Bennett, Lewis, and Collingwood. As there was such a small meeting the secretary withdrew his motion. Mr Bennett's name was added to the Concert Committee. It was reported that Mr H. Palmer had promised a trophy for boy's high jump, and Mr Johnston a trophy for the best decorated bicycle for lady competitors. Mr Jack reported that the following gentlemen had promised trophies:— Ballinger Bros. (Wellington), W. Freeman, D. D. Hyde, Bennett & Sollitt, and a gold medal by Mr J. R. Montague. -The following names were added to the committee : — Messrs Barnard, Nelson, Haify Thacker, Aisher, Warden, Wither, Bastin, J. M. Johnston, W. T. Wood, J. Naah, D. Pvingle, and D. Mounsey.
