Police Court.
PALMERSTON—MONDAY,
(Before Messrs T. L. Buick and A,

Neither of the accused appeared, and a warrant was issued for their arrest.
BREACH OF THE BOROUGH BYE-LAWS,
- Robert Gardner was charged with committing a breach of the Borough bye-laws, by permitting the water supplied to his property to run to waste.
Evidence was given by T. Bastin, Borough Inspector, and E. Barnard deposed that on the sth of February the leak took place.
R. N. Keeling, Town Clerk, proved that defendants name appeared on the rate roll as owner of section 949.
Defendant denied that he was the owner of the property, but the Bench considered that in paying the rates, and in ordering that the tap to be repaired he had accepted the responsibility of ownership, and he was fined 10s and £1 8s costs.
E. Whibley was charged with a similar offence, and the same penalty was imposed.
Mr Fitzherbert appeared to prosecute for the Borough. The Court then adjourned.
