Fire at Waipawa.

(BNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) I , ,; .Napier, Monday. A terrible conflagration broke out at Waipawa at three o'clock this ihoming. The fire commenced m a small cottage near ihe' river, and between the railway line'and the main street the names spread rapidly to a block of small shops, and from these to the Empire Hotel outbuildings, these together with the hotel were* soon destroyed. The' fire is still proceeding along the , side , of the street and the Bank of New Zealand was the next to go. Telegraphic communication with Waipawa is cut off, but up to thei present ten shops, hotel and bank have been destroyed. A special train sent from Napier with steam fire engine arid brigade reported Post and Tele grapbf Office burned down, and that the) flames haverspread to the other side of the street. ,
