A Runaway Team,
Mr Parminter's express drawn by three horses bolted from the railway goods-shed this afternoon. They first of all headed direct for Mr JPark's new building, but turned off round the Square, a hogshead of beer rolling off in the middle of the street and sustaining some little damage. The team then galloped, furiously around the Square, past the Club Hotel, crossing the railway line and getting into Broad-street without accident. Some men on horseback followed, and the runaways were finally captured at the rear of Mr Venn's factory, no damage being done worth speaking of to the vehicle, harness, or horses. Many children were on the street at the time, and considerable danger was incurred on that account, but fortunately no casualty took place. At the furious rate at which the team travelled, and the route they took, it was generally expected that a complete smash-up would be the inevitable result. What startled the team is not known, but a horse in the pole seemed one that would bolt with very little encouragement.
