COMMERCIAL NEWS.
Produce Markets.
Laery & Cempbell report th at during the past week trade has been decidedly! quiet, and there are no material alterations to. report. Fresh butter, m 1b pats in' brine, realised from 6Jd to lO^d. We should, therefore, bo inclined to quote it as worth about the latter price for really prime. The lower prices were obtained with some difficulty, as the butter was inferior. Eggs have had a sudden fall, and may now be quoted as; worth 9d per dozen, bacon and hams 9£d, and cheese' 5d to s^d. These priews ( are for sales by auction, or privately, to suit the trade. There has been no poultry since last report, but it is much inquired for. In general farm produce there is no alteration to report, But we should quote for import lines alongside the wharf :— Chiok whoat, 2s 9d per bushel ; short feed oats, 2s 6d do ; barley, without demand ; maize, as none is coining forward it is impossible to make quotations ; potatoes, 65s per ton, sacks free ; onions are not m brisk demand, but may be quoted at about £H to j£ls per tori. • .
