The Hospital Question.
t TO THIS EDITOR OF THE STANDARD.) Sir, — I nee by the papers that the Palmerston North Council have again boen agitating for those two sections at the corner of College-street for a hospital reserve. 1 have always thought it far better for an institution of that desciiption to be placed m as elevated a position as possible, whereas it is v well-known iacfc that there is one if not more lagoons running- through those sections which m summer time are dried up, and then they emit odours anything- hut pleasant, and far from being beneficial to the health of any patient who might be located theie. Now Sir, tho Council have possession of a very dry section granted for the purpose, handy to a railway station; anil I am of the opinion that if a small portion of the money chat has been thrown away m the Botanical Road ami elsewhere, and through bad engineering, had been spent m improving- that section by tree planting &c, no more desirable position could be obtained.-— I am, &c, Pro Boko Publico.
