Wanganui Stock Quotations.
Mr Freeman R. Jackson's Fortnightly Stock ReportWednesday, May 14. At the yards to-day a better inquiry was noticeable for cattle. Steers sold fairly well, as also young cattle. Cows ■were neglected, and keep at low value, yet the sale as a whole showed at slight improvement. Nearly all the stock were sold at the auctions, with the exception of a line of cows and a few fat ewes. Sheep sold at about the rates ruling during the past month. Pigs were well competed for, selling at full rates. Cattle.— 3-yeav- old steers, L 4 to L 4 6s ; fat cows, medium quality, L 2 16a to L 3 10s ; 18-rnonths-old steers L 2 11s ; yearlings, 295 ; weaners, 15s. Sheep.— Fat ewes, 8s 3d to 11s 7d ; store wethers, 7s 4d to 9s 7d ; ewea, 7s Id to 9s 7d ; old ewes, 5s 6d. Pigs. -130 made up the sale : Bacon pigs, up to L 3 5s ; good porkers, 35s 6d to 225 ; stores, 14s 6d ; suckers, 6s. Horses. — No improvement m values I sold about two-thirds of the number offered.
