IN DEFENCE.
The Post denies the truth of the s'atement of its morning contemporary that Wellington "drapers still require assistance." The Post proceeds to remark : — This seems to v* a most un-called-for observation, even were it accurate. It is wholly, unjustifiable fo single out particular trades m this way, and to cast reflections upon their soundness. But what makes the matter worse is that the allegation is quite unfounded, and the reflection, therefore; all the more unwarrantable. We have necessarily extensive commercial transactions with, nearly eyevy member of that trade m this city, and speaking from experience, we Tiave no hesitation m asserting that there are no better or prompter paymasters m the whole business community. It is much to be regretted that these gratuitous imputations should be indulged m.
