A STUPID REMARK.
At the public meeting last night Mr S. Abraham Btrove to make out that | the s'mallness of the atteiidnnce was due to the meeting being only advertised in: one paper. In this instance, as often happens, Mr Abraham made himself ridiculous. Tho meeting was well advertised in the other paper. In a paragraph in Monday's issue, in two paragraphs on Tuesday, and in a leader ;in Wednesday's issue, besides in the advertisement witli regard to the Soap and Candle Company, which appeared in the Times, and which reads as follows :— " This meeting will take place I immediately after the public meeting 1 convened by the Mayor re proposed. ! division, bf ; Borough into Wards." If j the meeting "was not sufficiently adver- : Used, we would like Mr Abraham to suggest some better plan. But perhaps Mr Abraham is one of the daily increasing number of persons who do not take, the Times, and know nothing of its contents.
