This reduced number will prolong the shooting a day or two, and it will not be urttil about to-morrow week before the championships will U,e known. The total number of entries is about 170, and almost all of the representatives are here. The- proportion of riflemen to carbines is over three to two. jSome dissatisfaction is expressed by visiting representatives at the small amout collected in Auckland, it being only £160.._JThe commiltee, however, has made another start with, canvassers, , and. it is hoped this sum will be augmented by an additional £200, A meeting of the - council of the New Zealand. Rifle Association was held tonight. ' Exception was taken to the . employment of Wellington registerkeepers aud mai'kers as leading to increased expenditure. It was decided to commence firing at 9 o'clock Qn. each morning.
