•: : •It is gratifying to heat' from a North;earn paper that good progress is now being made with the Government contract, Manutahi-Manawapou, under
the charge of Mr Patterson, and his assitant, Mr Campbell. There are two shifts of nven, from 15 to 20 m each shift, working m big cuttings, oni going on at 4 a.m. and working till noon, and the second one starting at .12 and working till 8 p.m. As the days are 'getting short, a supply of lamps are now being erected so that the men can continue work till late. A jjotnmencemenc is now being made with the bridge, the pile driving engine is on tho ground,, and work was started on Wedi nesday.
