At last n ; gbt,'s meeting of the City Council the Fire Brigade Committee rpcoromendedjtbat the couiicl should take tie necessary, steps to have a Bill introduced at the next session of Parliament, whereby cost of maintaining fire brigade? should be so apportioned that the municipalities, insarance companies, and the consolidated revenue of the colony should all share iv the expense of supporting such brigades. Strong remarks were made by the councillors regarding the penuriousness of insurance comranies m the matter of supporting the fire brigade, and eventually the recommendation was ref'eired back to the committee.
