If w© may judge from the nominations published in f another column, the sports at Matarawa bid fair to lie a great success on ' ew Tear's Pay, and will -greatly increase the enjoyment of visitors to the Friendly 'Societies Picnic. The committee have made liberal arrangements iv connection with the outing, and amongst Other attraction Mr T." Battle will exhibit his camera obs cura. As m past- years, tio intoxicating liquors will be supplied on the ground, and nothing is likely to happen to mar the! peaceful enjoyment of the Baby Show — a novel exhibition m Wanganui, and one which will fully bring out the productive resources of the district. Fine weather on New Year's Day will bring the people to Matarawa by thou sands, and J satisfactory arrangements have been made with the Railway Department for frequent trains and cheap ticket*.. .)
