CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
I Almost every. day 'cases of cruelty to : ; animate arb' brought under notice. This ; morning we wert shown where an unfortunate horse had been tethered apparently during the greater part of last night. The "paddock," was Mr H. McNeil's vacant building allotment at the corner of George-street, and the tether line was about four or five yards lobg. The " pasture" consisted of pieces of timber, sheets of galvanized iron, and other similar articles, tempting to the equine appetite. The poor animal had trampled all around wearily till the footpath over which its rope reached was nicely cut up. Souit! people should- not under any circustanees le eni rusted with .the care of. a horse,.-, asthey appear to haye L .wry little idea of what proper treatment means. Day by day shows more clearly the necessity for the establishment of a society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.
