Lord Roseberry was present last night at a dinner given by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and replying 1 to the toast of his health, spoke highly of the importance which must be attached to the late Intercolonial Convention, as marking a distinctive epoch m the history of the Australian Colonies. la its resolution regarding, the the convict question, the Convention, Lord Rose»erry remarked, spoke with a power which could not .be claimed by colonies individually. : The Convention spoke to the whole world as the mouthpiece of a united nation determined to take part m future events, and determined to control the present as regards ltd individual self.
