THE BOROUGH LOAN.
"*'■■ J :0 o:— We trust at the Borough Council meeting, the proposed Borough Loan proposals will assume a definite form. If the Council agree to them, there is still much to be done in a preliminary way. There must be a public meeting to consider the question, and to express an opinion thereon ; and afterwards the poll of the ratepayers will require to betaken. Then all arrangements for ihe floating ofthe loan will have to be ittade.AAll these Operations will requir'eitime, and must.be gone through in tlie usual formal: manner to be in accordances with the requirements of the law. We do not i>elieire there will be the slightest difficulty ia floating the loan, in the London market, and we tru'siHhe Wt«payert. ,: will he as unanimous on°&e question. as we understand the Councillors now are. The rejection of the loan proposals by the ratepayers would be little short of a calamity «*q far as the prospects and : progress of the town and "district are' concerned. ,C < \ !
