HORSE STEALING.

William Thomas and George Gage, alias Williams,' have been arrested at Wanganui'On a charue of horee-steaiini?, or (to put it more technically) 'larceny as a bailee' at Feilding* It oppearatbut on Thursday last the two worthies 'hired a conple of horses at Feilding under pretence of going to Palqierston^ but instead of niuking in tu,p,t direction roda down towards Wanganui. Both Were arrested yesterday, Thomas at Hawera and Gage at New- Plymouth. It was found that . they had. disposed of the horses, and that (/one of the naga was ' swapped' away at Hawera. Both prisoners are young fellows, Thomas being eighteen and Gage twenty«five r yearß. ; Against Gage there is aneth r war rant- in existence chargioghim with a similar Horsey transaction at Wellington. It is alleged' "that he .hired a pair in the Empire Oily, and sold One at Otaki and the other at .Foxton. ' ;
