Fire Brigade Meeting.
. The ordinary general meeting of the Palmerston Fire Brigade was held last evening at the Commercial Hotel. The business transacted was only ofa formal character. A. letter -wa^repjaved from the Borough Council notifying the ac- [ ceptance of the services . of the Brigade and appointing Messrs J.. Linton,G. |M. ' Snelson, Bentley, and T.-Kiiig, fire inspectors. Also, from the] National Fire Insurance Company, to the eff ct that it was the rule nowadays not to support hrigades by monetary grant, and stating that it was the duty of corporations to look after, such institutions.. ,The;Secretary;Was instructed to ; make inquiries re cost of* buckets. |Mr Graff gave notice of motion for next meeting that the, general meeting ' be held the second Wednesday m each •month. West for non attendance and suggesting at alteration m the night of meeting so as not to clash with the Borough Council meeting? ■ -'■' . The meeting then. adjourned.
