Wanganui, Sept. 24. News arrived m town this morning that a I survey party under Mr J. A. Thorpe,- engaged on the survey of the subdivision of the Murimotu Block-, we're stopped by Natives under a chief named Arapeta Haeretuterangi. When they came back to where the tent was left on Friday morning, they found everything gone, tent and all, and on search being made, it was found that they had been taken by the chief, who refused to give up possession unless the survey is abandoned. - Mr Thorpe has seat a messenger down to apply to the Government for assistance, and application wiir also be made to the police; No violence is reported. ' !
