When the news of the murder' reached Ireland, the' wildest delfght was manifested; Mobs entered houses,- and seized bedding; furnitare, and other articles with which to make bonfires f 'and effigies of the dead int former were burned, and mock funerals Held m • various *Irish v towns, Kight enormous Donfireß blazed around Carey's old residence, and others m other streets. Bands marched through the city playing national tunes, followed by crowds "of people cheering as they marched.) ■ ,
