The directors of the Suez Canal Company have, .decided to introduce from Ist January 1884 some modification- of the existing regulations under which traffic through the canal is conducted, Amoag other things the company has decided to reduce dues payable by vessels: in ballast, and to undertake the charge of .floating ships .that may be* come stranded m passing through the canal. Adniral Pierre who, recently arrived here after resigning command of the forces at Madagascar, on account of ill health, died to-day.
