THE ALTE RED TIMETABLE.

(TO THE EDITOR OP THE STANDARD.) Sin, — I understood when the altera, tions m the Raitway Timetable wore to take place we'fchould have some advantages m the shape of an extra train between Palmerston and Wanganui. But alas for a deluded hopee ! No extra train but a silly arrangement whereby one train leaves the Halcombe station at. 10.50 arriving at Palmerston at 12.15. Another train leaves the same station half an hour later (tor what reason the Railway Manager only knows) arriving m Palmerston at 12.35. twenty minutes after the other train. If you will be good enough to inform me what sense there is m an alteration of this kind, you will satisfy a perplexed Traveller.
