In the business of the month has been somewhat dull and prices generally remain dep etsion to a level that leaves no profit to the importer. Although there is oonsider< able depressed m some narts of New Zealand, we are pieased to report that trade is sound, and that no failures of any importance have occurred. Financial engagements have been well provided for,- No alteration has. occurred m the Bank rate; and money for loan on first class securities is firm at 7£ per cent, for large amounts, and 8 per cent, for small sums. .Kerosene is m good supply, and is! worth Is Td per gallon for 130 test : oil of 150 test is out of stock, aud we hear of a large parcel being sold, to arrive, at Is 4d, m bond.' GaWanised corrugated iron has bad some attention, and quoted L 22 10s, with the usual advance - for 26 guage ; 24 guage is m light supply. Fencing wire is dull and rather easier ; from stock we quote: No. 6, Ll3 ; No* 7, Ll3 10s ; and No. 8, LH; galvanised barb wire is quoted at LSO ana L 52 10s per ton, Oolonial produce — Flour m quoted at LlO 15s to Lll 6s ;oats, 2s 2d to 2s 6d; milling, 2s 6d to 2s 7d; fowls' wheat 8s to 3s 3d ; maize, 3s 3.1 to 3s 6d ; pollard; Lsto L 5 10s ; bran hi ; prime salt butter, 61 ; potatoes.
