Mrs fllarion Scott, a widow, aged 65, j who was frightened the ether day by the monkey wnich savagely assaulted an infant, and who has been aiiißg ever since, died suddenly this morning. An inquest is to be held. The first issue of shares m the Freezing Company, 20,000 at £5, has been more than covered by tbe applications sent m, Thames, This Day. The new Prince Imperial Company obtained 9cwt- of rich specimens on Monday, and 6cwt additional to-day, trom the No. 2 lode, an excellent show remaining for future operations. > Wellington, This Day. An elderly man named Samuel Jeffs was found dead m bed m a restaurant to-day, the cause being heart disease. Christchtjbch, This Day. The excitement re diamonds has considerably abated. Shares m pospecting companies are not much m demand. No further information as to value has yet I been received. 1 DunEdin, This Day. The steamer Hoihow took the remains of 282 Chinese away, to be re-interred m Flowery Land. It is understood that £7 per body i? paid for their .conveyance to Hong Kong.
