CORRESPONDENCE.

THE FIRE BRIGADE. (TO THB EDITOR OF THE STANDI.BD.) Bib, — I was glad to see the letter signed " Experience Teaches," which I think will do good. I trust, however, that the Brigade will manage its affairs carefully and with prudence, and I hare confidence that they will do. 1 hope they will reject the offer of thb New Zealand Insurance Company, of the engine, which is only a bid tor popularity. Let them keep their old engine. Palmerston doesn't wane it. We hare to pay enough m the way of fire policies just now* and I firmly behefe that for that the New Zealand Company is mainly responsible, as hating set the ball going. Bat at an; rate, the engine is not wanted, and I' hope tbe Brigade wilt uot be foolish enough to accept it on any terms. If they do, the public will not approve of their action, \ I am. &c. i F. B.
