Presentation.
Mi Parsons, who has disposed of his interest m his contract m the first section of the railway to Messrs Anderson tfc Co ,of Christchurch, was yesterday the recipieat of a pleasing token of goodwill on the part of his.former employes, many of whom had worked with, him for a number of years. The presentation was made at the Clarendon Hotel, when one" of the workmen hauded to him a watch and chain, as a humble recognition of their feedings towards their |f>te employer. The present was m« tended for Mr Parsons*' eldest son, the spokesman remarking that he hopad when the young man wore it, he would he reminded of the estesm m which his father was held by the men who had worked for hiai, and to whom he was always a considerate employer. The presentation evidently too* M"r Parsons by surprise, being entirely a spontaneous ait on th« part of the men, Mr Parsons expressed his gratifiia» tion with the kindly spirit which had prompted the gift, and referred to the pleasant relationships which had always exisced btween himself and bis Workmen,
