I have the honor to report for your information that I am gradually getting the monthly work required to be done m my Office on a satisfactory footing. To aid a>e m my efforts to abate, nuisances a book of printed forms has been procured, ghqwiqg gome of the work . done by me during the month, rhin book will be laid on the Council table together with my report at every j monthly meeting, which will enab'e the Council to see where nuißance3 have been committed without especially re ferrinar to them m mj report $nd making nanu r public. Owing to the book being received first to-day at 11 a.m., very few notices have been served, but a great deal of sanitary work has notwithstanding been carried out during the last month. I may mention that complaints were made about pus being kept m CuSa^street, and the e,fil was removed. A dead sheep was for some time laying m Yiotoria'-streei, owing to ; the nightman undertaking to remove it; and failing to do s<a. Eventually I had to bury i 6 myself. Complaints were rendered to me against the night-man, with respect to the careless way m which the night soil was remove I last week from toe Court Souse. Although I reported the matter to him, no notice was taken of it. I may state that there have been aft veral compl ints of a similar nature against the nightman, and on the whole the removal of night.sMl does not seem to be carried out satisfactorily.
