We regret that this severe measure has again been necessary, the following District Order having been sent to officers commanding corps ; M His Excellency the Governor has approved of the dismissal from the Volunteer Force of No. 20, Private Jonnes Steis, of the Wellington City Rifle Volunteers, consequent on his conviction by the Civil Power 3 for obtaining goods under false pretences." While we deplore the neccessity for the proceeding, we are very glad to notice evidence of sujn a determination to keep the character and good name of the force above reproach by expelling all who have brought dis« credit upon JL
