The Money Market.
! Mepsis Charles Pownall and Co, scriveners, report— -The money TfiaFjceT has been man unsettled state during tie last month, with, notwithstanding ajlimited demand, a tendency to harden m ralue. We continue to quote rate of interest frbm 7to 8 per cent, on broad acres, the lower quotation specially applying to rery large mortgage: investments only. Home capital is limited m eupply, and while rates continue to be fully uphold m the Australian market there is little prospect of any decrease here, unless from a large Importation of English money becoming ayailable, which, as'tfe notice last quotations m the open .market there, are reduced to 8^ per cent., is not improbable. i"-----V---' •- J - : - .-.
