Says the New Zealand Herald: — Mrs Dr Potts delivered her concluding lectnre of the season yeßterday evening the subject being fi Love, Courtship and Marriage." This was a tbeme m which a clever, shrewd, and cultured gentlewoman can always speak with authority. It is the ethical rather than pathological. Three * bad female habits came m for censure — (1) tight-lacing : (2) indifference to domestic and useful accomplishments ; (3) artifice. Three bad habits m men were also censured— (l) tobacco smoking- or snuffing ; (2) drinking ; (3) indifference to home society. She would have the man that deserved a good wife wear the a Blue Ribbon." She recommended an Anti-corset Society, to put nown tight lacing. She would have courting done m daylight rather thin night. She considers that " a good solid courtship " of two years was quite long enough. She recommends a process of ft natural selection," by which an alliance should be made of temperaments rather different than absolutely alike. Good health she con. sidered the basis of all married happiness. She would have many questions asked on both sides before either party risked the chance of happiness m marriage*
