Horrible Suicide.

Cby telegraphs (united pbess association.) Dunedin, Jane 14. A shepbeid on a run near Lake Wanaka committed snicide by cutting hib throat with a pocket-knife. Ho went out mustering, and fancied he I coold people coming after him with spears, He tan away, fell over a precipice, and afterwards, becoming more frightened, cut himself wi h a knife to put an end to his life. He lay out all night m a severe frost, and was found alive by the searchers. He was brought to the Cromwell Hospital, but died. His name was John Oswald Stewart, a native of Glasgow, and he was well educated. He got remittances, which led to his drinking, and a drinking bout is believed to have been the cause of the act.
