The fearful condition of the thorough" fire known as North-street reflects on toe Palmerston Borough CounciU We a|« gi?en to understand ..that .the. residents would, contribute - towards the costs of necessary improvements, if afeked to do so. A former appeal to the Borough: Cou&cil -elicited- rather discpuraging comments from one of the Councillors present, and when the matter was left m the hands of another. Councillor, and a petition was placed m his hands for presentation to the Council at its. last meeting, that faithful and reliable municipal representative never showed up at all i We hear as a fact, that neither the butchers nor bakers can get to their customers m North-street, so jimpasßable is that slough of despond sinjce the recent rains. The cisc is one that undoubtedly merits special and prompt cos sideration . (
