Most of the papers twit the Govern** ment regarding the admission made by it m reference to Mr Errington's semiofficial mUsion ti the Vatican. The police m Dublin have exhumed the body of an hotel-keeper ia that city, named July, who recently died under suspicions circumstances, and who, it m now suspected, was poisoned by the Invincibles . Sir Hercules Robinson returns to the Cape, but will, it is reported, succeed thej Marquis of Normanby as Governor , of Victoria . The Gunboat for the Victorian Government, which was named the Melbourne by Lady Armstrong when recently launched, has beeenre.christened the Albert. - . The wool market is weaker, especiaUy for inferior wools and coarse and crossbred samples. 226,000 bales have been catalogued, and 20,000 withdrawn. Since the commencement of the inscription of the New South Wales stock, the price has increased one and ahalf per ceat. { Seventy-eight thousand pounds worth. \of the Melbourne Gas Company's loan has been subscribed for, and tho balance will probably be covered on Monday. The frozen meat by the Garonne has realised 6i, and notwithstanding the bad JconUcion of some of it, the British King's shipment from 1 y Helton has leaiised an average of 6£i per pouud. The Lady Jocelyn, from Wellington, with a cargo of meat m excellent condition has arrived at Plymouth . The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britian is 1,950,000 quarters, bein£ 300,000 leas than the quantity afloat las week. Breadstuff's are unchanged Adelaide wheit ex store, 43s ; New Zealand ditto, 44s to 475. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 33 » 6i. Australian tallow has advanced 6d per cwt. Bast beet is now worth 41s 6d , best mutton, 435. The catalogue at to-day's wool sale comprised 11,500 bale*. A good demaud was experienced. Consols remain at lOOf - New Zealand securities are quoted as follows — 5 per cent. 10 40 loan, 106^- ; 5 per cent, 1889 loan, 104^ (sic); 4£ percent. 1879-1904 loau, 102£ ; 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 102^-. At the wool eale to-day 10,300 bales were offered. The tone of the sale was firm. St. Petersburg, June 8. A meeting of thirty Nihilists m this city was surprised by the polica yester* day, but all escaped capture. The Czar has issued a manifesto abolishing the poll-tax m the case of the poorest Kussuns, and reducing the same as regards other classes.
