Sad Fatality.

FURTHER PARTICULARS.

A gentleman who has received the following particulars relating to the sad case of drowning reported m our Auckland telegrams yesterday evening has kindly hauded them to a Wellington paper for publicition. Mr A. Firth, with four other Europeans and a Maori, were attempting to swim across a small lake at Ohinemntu, and they all, with the exception of Mr Firtb, succeeded m getting salely across ; but when he was within a short distance of the shore, he Was observed to throw up bis hands and sink. The Maoris attempted to recover the body by diving, but were unsuccessful until next morning. Mr Firth was the eon of the late Mr Mark Firth, one of the largest steel manufacturers m the Sheffield District, and he was travelling entirely for his amusement.
