We have seen 'cases of cruel murder followed by determined suicide, of rash murder committed by a girl— wo have seen school-boys plotting to wreck trains, and destroy many human lives ; youths fhooting men down because ' they were alivft,' or because it was better fun than rabbit-shooting ; also?a father mutilating his son witl/Vsqnare of cedar beard j and we have heard of the larrikin element— insolent, obscene, offensive, and m many cases practically 'triumph anU theUawi"A it.*prqc>e^s, " may do its best, and should and must do its beat,^buj there is much to be done which is as far beyond any legislation as is . religious conviction or sceptical denial. Certain it is that we have not looked tp. pur schools enough.
